The Toronto Raptors hope to hand the Knicks, their Atlantic Division rivals, their 13th loss in 14 games when they visit Madison Square Garden on Thursday night.
There are few teams in a worse position to win basketball games these days than the New York Knicks.

Toronto responded to the Jeremy Lamb miracle shot by taking down the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday. Still, the Raptors failed to cover as 14.5-point favourites and they’re 0-3 ATS in their last three contests.
Despite sitting comfortably in second place in the Eastern Conference and owning the second most outright wins, the Drakes are on pace to finish with their worst ATS season record since the 2010-11 campaign. Toronto has covered the number in just 32 of its 75 games.
Even worse for Raptor supporters, the club is just 6-14-1 against the spread as an away favourite this season. The Raps are 9-1 straight up in their last 10 games against the Knicks.
New York is crawling to the end of another ugly NBA campaign. The Knicks have won just seven games on their home floor and they own the worst home ATS record (12-22-2) in the Association.
The club has just four straight up wins since the first week of January. The Knicks are just 4-31 in their last 35 games. Yuck. One bit of good news for New York backers: The home team is 6-1 against the number in the last seven meetings between these two sides.
Toronto Raptors
The Dinos have nothing left to play for in the regular season. It’s true the first-place Milwaukee Bucks are somewhat vulnerable after a series of injuries to rotation players, but it’s unlikely Toronto can catch with just seven games left.
Head coach Nick Nurse is free to experiment with lineups to make sure he’s comfortable with his player rotations in the playoffs. Getting Kyle Lowry back up to full strength is a must. The All-Star point guard has played two games since missing time with an ankle injury.
Lowry has played fewer than 30 minutes in both games and hasn’t surpassed 14 points in either contest.
New York Knicks
The storylines New York hoop heads want to talk about these days all relate to the offseason. The rumours of potentially signing Kevin Durant this summer haven’t dissipated and the team should have enough cap space to sign another max-level free agent.
In the meantime, the Knicks are doing everything they can to improve their odds in the NBA Draft Lottery. NYK owns the league’s worst record and they’re hoping to keep it that way. If all goes to plan, the franchise will win the lottery and with it the right to draft Zion Williamson with the first overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
