Raptors vs. Celtics NBA Betting Odds

This is not part of a back-to-back for Boston. It’s the second of four regular-season meetings between the clubs and already Toronto’s last trip to Beantown. On Oct. 22 at TD Garden, the Raptors were 115-83 upset winners in the Celtics’ home opener. Every Dinos starter had at least 11 points, led by 25 from rookie Scottie Barnes, who added 13 rebounds. Precious Achiuwa also had a double-double of 15 points and 15 rebounds.

Toronto was 21-for-21 from the free-throw line compared to 8-for-11 for Boston. Rare for a road team to get such a large discrepancy in free-throw attempts. Jayson Tatum had 18 points for Boston and fellow All-Star Jaylen Brown just nine on 3-for-13 shooting. More on him below.

The Raptors are 14-37 all-time in Boston and have won two of their past 10 there even with that early victory. Toronto is 6-4 against the spread in those 10.

Toronto Raptors

Toronto comes off its second straight loss, 116-103 at home to Brooklyn on Sunday. The Nets outscored the Dinos by 18 in the third quarter. Kevin Durant was playing in Toronto for the first time since tearing his left Achilles tendon while playing for Golden State in Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals. Toronto was 7-for-25 from deep, matching its season-low with seven made three-pointers. Fred VanVleet led with 21 points and passed Andrea Bargnani for fourth on the Raptors’ all-time three-point field goal list. Pascal Siakam made his season debut off surgery and had 15 points and four rebounds in 25 minutes. The former All-Star admitted he was out of breath quickly. Precious Achiuwa shifted to the bench with Siakam’s return and had 13 points and eight rebounds.

Boston Celtics

Boston is without All-Star Jaylen Brown for 1-2 weeks due to a right hamstring strain, which is the last thing this disappointing 4-6 club needs. Brown leads the team in averaging 25.6 ppg while adding 6.1 rebounds. There has been some chatter that the Celtics would be willing to include Brown in a possible trade to Philadelphia for Ben Simmons. The C’s lost their first game without Brown on Saturday, 107-104 in Dallas on a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Luka Doncic. Jayson Tatum is really going to have to carry a big load with Brown out and had 32 points and 11 rebounds. Dennis Schroder started for Brown and had 20 points and six assists. Boston is 0-3 ATS at home this year, the lone team without an ATS win.
