The Los Angeles Lakers are back in winning form after an ugly end to 2019. They giant favourites to extend their win streak to five games as they welcome Andre Drummond and the Detroit Pistons to the Staple Center on Sunday night.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Detroit took down the Golden State Warriors 111-104 as a 2.5-point road favourite on Saturday. The result snapped a three-game losing skid for the Pistons – who are three games back of the Orlando Magic for the last playoff spot in the East.

The club is one of the better Over bets in the league. The Pistons own a 21-15 Over/Under season record and the Over is 6-1 in their last seven contests.

Sunday’s line represents the largest amount of points (15.5) oddsmakers have handed the Pistons on the spread this season. Detroit is 0-2 against the spread (ATS) as a double-digit underdog this season including earlier this week when it lost by 13 points to the Clippers.

The Lakers improved to 28-7 after their 123-113 home win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday. The Purple and Gold have won four straight after snapping a four-game losing streak in their first game after Christmas.

They’re 13-4 SU at home (9-7 ATS), and 5-5-1 against the spread as double digit favourites on the campaign. They’re just 2-7-1 against the number in their last 10 games and 0-4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on one day’s rest.

The Pistons are 5-2 SU and ATS in their last seven games against the Lakers, but they’ve let to play LA since Anthony Davis came to Tinseltown.

Detroit Pistons

Blake Griffin has missed the last two games for the Pistons with a knee injury, but he hasn’t looked the same even when he has been in the lineup. Griffin is averaging a career lows in scoring (15.5 points per game) and rebounds (4.7) just one year removed from his first All-Star campaign since the 2014-15 season.

Andre Drummond is the Pistons lone star but the club is listening to offers for this big man. The pivot is doing all that he can to drum up – sorry – interest on the trade market. Drummond is averaging 17.5 points and 13 rebounds per game since returning from injury at the end of last month.

Los Angeles Lakers

Drummond isn’t the only All-Star big playing well right now. First year Laker Anthony Davis scored 46 points against his old club – New Orleans – on Friday night. He’s now scored 40 or more points four times this season.
