The Pelicans were on a three-game winning streak before falling to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday. The Thunder have won two straight games and three out of their last four matchups coming into this one.
As it stands, the Thunder are -3 favourites on the NBA odds. The over-under is set at 237.

Pelicans vs. Thunder NBA Betting Odds

New Orleans has not fared well as an underdog this season as they are just 9-17 ATS in that role and 8-19 straight up. They are also just 9-17 ATS in a road game where the total is greater than or equal to 220. However, they are 16-5 straight up against teams with a losing record this season.

The Thunder have been a good home team this season as they’re 16-11 straight up and 17-10 against the spread. They have also covered seven of their last 11 games when having two days or more rest.

New Orleans Pelicans

The injuries are starting to ease for the Pelicans as CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram are no longer even listed on the report. There was a point in time when both were listed daily and at times joined superstar Zion Williamson on the sidelines. Williamson continues to miss time as he just re-aggravated his hamstring injury but the other two are expected to play.

Ingram offers a team-high 21.8 points per game with McCollum right behind him at 21.1 points. The 11th-ranked Pelicans’ offence is doing their best to stay afloat with Williamson out. The challenge is that they’re on the road here and road games are an adventure for them. They’ve lost six straight on the road. The main issue is their defence which gives up 117.4 on the road compared to 110.2 at home. That makes them tough to trust in this spot.

Oklahoma City Thunder

It certainly seems like this young Thunder squad is turning a corner. There are so many guys to pinpoint on this roster that have been rapidly improving, but none more important than Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Gilgeous-Alexander is currently having a career year, averaging 31.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game. Not to mention that he leads the team in steals with 1.7 a night.

The Canadian has been getting a lot of help from their phenomenal defensive-minded guard Lugentz Dort and the facilitator Josh Giddey. Giddey has also been dramatically improving, putting up 16.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 5.9 dimes per game.

The Thunder are a strong home team mostly because they’re the fourth-best home offence in the NBA. They are 16-11 at home and only three other teams score more than the 120.6 they manage in Oklahoma. That offense should flourish against the Pelicans’ shaky defence in this one.
