The Brooklyn Nets might very well be the toughest road opponent in the NBA – and that’s good news for them considering how mediocre they’ve been on home court so far. The Nets look to climb back above the .500 mark at Barclays Center as they host the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night. Down Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, the Nets were no match for the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder as they dropped a 130-109 decision last time out.

Pelicans vs. Nets NBA Betting Odds

Don’t be surprised to see the visiting Pelicans garner plenty of support from the betting public, at least against the spread. While New Orleans is just 7-14 ATS away from Smoothie King Center this season, that’s still a better mark than the 4-17-1 record the Nets boast at Barclays Center. Brooklyn is a pitiful 1-8 ATS in its last nine games overall, and is on a seven-game cover-less streak on home court. And New Orleans has covered four of its last five games.

The total for Saturday’s encounter is set at 229; both teams skew slightly toward the Under for the season, with the Nets at 20-21 O/U and New Orleans at 19-23. But Brooklyn has started to reward Over bettors for their patience, going on a 10-5 O/U run over its previous 15 games. And these teams don’t hold back when they face off against each other, having converted the Over in nine of their last 10 head-to-head meetings.

New Orleans Pelicans

The Pelicans are a longshot to contend for a Western Conference playoff spot, but might be more competitive than expected if they can continue their impressive home run. New Orleans has won three of its last four, with each of those victories coming on friendly soil – including a statement-making 101-96 triumph over the Golden State Warriors. The road, however, has not been kind to the Pelicans, who are just 6-15 SU and 7-14 ATS away from the Big Easy.

Brooklyn Nets

The Nets may need to give one of their top players a much-needed breather in the near future. Star guard James Harden admitted to being “exhausted” after racking up 26 points, nine assists and seven rebounds in the loss to the Thunder. Brooklyn had just returned home from a brutal stretch in which they became the first team in nearly 50 years to play games in the Eastern and Pacific time zones on consecutive days.
