The Denver Nuggets will be taking on the Golden State Warriors on Friday in an early measure of where the teams stack up in the Western Conference. The Nuggets are finally healthy again, getting back two of their most important players in Canadian Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. Murray and Porter’s return didn’t really go Denver’s way, as they were blown out by the Utah Jazz to open up the season. Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors got their season off right with a victory against the Los Angeles Lakers. Which of these teams can get it going here?

Golden State is a 5.5-point favourite to win on the NBA odds, with a total of 229.5.

Nuggets vs. Warriors NBA Betting Odds

Denver is a team that is 8-3 ATS over their last 11 road games when going up against a team with a winning home record on the season. They are 2-5 ATS in their past seven games overall coming into this one. When it comes to the total, the over has won in four out of the last five meetings between the Nuggets and Warriors.

Golden State has won their last four games against the spread and are 4-1 ATS in their past five games played at home against a team with a losing road record on the season. The over has cashed in four out of their past five games at home against a team with a road winning percentage below .400.

Denver Nuggets

The season-opening loss to the Jazz was quite a bad look for Denver. After all, Utah is hoping that they can become one of the worst teams in the league to get a top draft pick. They’re trying to tank. Meanwhile, Denver wants to emerge as a contender.

While it was a bad start, the Nuggets needn’t panic just yet. Both Murray and Porter are still trying to get back into game shape and rediscover their rhythm from before.

On top of that, this group still has arguably the best centre in the league in Nikola Jokic, the back-to-back reigning league MVP who pretty much does it all. He’s going to be their massive mismatch against a Golden State team that really only has a slight weakness at the centre position.

Golden State Warriors

The reigning NBA champions are one of the deepest rosters in the league. During their game against the Lakers, they were able to squeeze in 11 players in the first half. All of them playing over five minutes on the floor. There’s no doubt that head coach Steve Kerr will continue to stretch the lineup out and get a ton of different guys out on the floor. That depth could be crucial in picking up a win over the Nuggets.

But if the depth isn’t enough for them, their star power should be able to pull them over the top. Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green are all still leading the way but there’s great depth now with Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins. That tandem combined for 32 points in the opener. When they’re on, the Warriors are going to be tough to beat.
