It’s daunting enough to face the reigning NBA Most Valuable Player with a healthy roster – but the Brooklyn Nets are nowhere near that fortunate as they host Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets on Sunday night. The Nets are coming off a 100-93 loss to Orlando on Saturday as they were forced to play with just eight healthy bodies – and given the workload the starters racked up in that one, it’s no surprise that the Nets are big underdogs Sunday.

Nuggets vs. Nets NBA Betting Odds

With the latest wave of COVID-19 playing havoc with sports leagues everywhere, bettors will need to lock onto the latest updates Sunday. Denver is favoured by nearly double digits as of mid-day Sunday, but it’s unclear whether the Nuggets will take the opportunity to rest starters given that the Nets are expected to be without a dozen players, including superstars James Harden and Kevin Durant. Keep an eye out for further news and bet accordingly.

The total for Sunday’s game is likely to be a little more stable; it’s sitting at 217, with the Over and Under sporting identical -110 odds. Denver is one of the few NBA teams skewing strongly toward the Over this season at 17-12 O/U, while the Nets come in at 13-17 (including a 6-10 mark at home) and have cashed the Under in six of their last nine games. Brooklyn is also on a five-game consecutive Under streak against Western Conference opponents.

Denver Nuggets

On one hand, this might present a great opportunity for the Nuggets to get Jokic and a few other PT-heavy players a much-needed breather. But at the same time, Denver can ill afford to drop any more games as it sits perilously above the .500 mark for the year. The best case scenario for the Nuggets: Build a large lead, and then go to the bench early. Whatever the case, it might be a good idea to avoid Jokic props in this one in case the game gets ugly (or he sits).

Brooklyn Nets

Assuming that the Nets are once again short-handed, you can expect to see Saturday’s busiest players given full workloads yet again. And that’s bad news for Brooklyn bettors, who watched the Nets shoot just 38.2 percent from the floor while connecting on only nine of their 46 3-point attempts in a humbling loss to one of the worst teams in the league. Patty Mills was the worst offender in that regard, shooting just 2-of-14 from long range.
