Brooklyn Nets vs. Washington Wizards Prediction, NBA Odds

Andrew Rogers | Updated Jan 19, 2022

The Brooklyn Nets have hardly had their Big Three of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden together on the court this season – and that isn’t going to change anytime soon, with Durant expected to miss several more weeks.

The Brooklyn Nets continue to tread water – and their extended struggles have opened the door for a pair of teams atop the Eastern Conference standings. The Nets have relinquished top spot in the East as they continue a four-game road trip Wednesday night in Washington.

Washington is a 1-point favourite to win on the NBA odds, with a total of 234.0.

Nets vs. Wizards NBA Betting Odds

The Nets will have Kyrie Irving available for this one as it’s being played away from Barclays Center, but Brooklyn is far from full strength – and that’s reflected in these narrow odds. Kevin Durant is out indefinitely with a knee injury, while fellow forwards Paul Millsap (personal) and Nic Claxton (hamstring) will also sit out. The Nets are a dismal 2-9 against the spread in their last 11 games, but the Wizards (1-6 ATS in their last seven) haven’t been any better themselves.

The public like its favourites, so it’s no surprise that 79 per cent of Sports Interaction bettors are siding with the Nets despite the roster depletion. The total, meanwhile, is a sky-high 234 – and it’ll be interesting to see if the Over remains a popular option. Brooklyn is 20-23 O/U for the season and has come in below the total in eight of 12 vs. Southeast Division foes. Washington (22-20-2 O/U) has cashed the Over in nine of its past 13.

Brooklyn Nets

The Nets have hardly had their Big Three together on the court this season – and that isn’t going to change anytime soon, with Durant expected to miss several more weeks. And despite the massive hole his absence leaves in the Brooklyn lineup, Irving says he won’t reconsider getting the COVID-19 vaccine, which would allow him to participate in home games. Irving is averaging 20 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists through his first four games.

Washington Wizards

The Wizards are looking to make a charge up the conference standings, and have some momentum built up with wins in four of their previous five games. Bradley Beal is leading the charge as expected, but is getting plenty of support from forward Kyle Kuzma. The 28-year-old, originally drafted by Brooklyn in 2017, is averaging 21.2 points and 13 rebounds over his past five, punctuated by a 27-point, 22-rebound effort in a Jan. 9 win over Orlando.
