The Spurs are a decent defensive team, for the most part, ranking 10th in the NBA in points-per-game allowed at 111.2. However, they struggle to defend the three and that could be an issue here. The Spurs rank 26th in the category and the Nets love their threes.

The Brooklyn Nets saw their eight-game winning streak snapped on Saturday when they lost at home to the Dallas Mavericks. Now they’ll move onto part two of their Texas three-step with a visit to the San Antonio Spurs before visiting the Houston Rockets later in the week.

The Spurs have been playing well themselves, beating the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday. That now marks five wins in their last six games. Can they hand the Nets a second straight loss or will Brooklyn get back on track?

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Nets are coming off a loss but that was their first loss straight up and against the spread in nine games. They are 9-4 ATS when facing a team with a winning record this season and are 11-2 SU in those games.

The Spurs are 8-5 SU and 9-4 ATS on the season when it comes to facing teams with a winning record. They have covered the spread in three of their last four games overall.

Brooklyn Nets

One of the reasons why the current betting odds are off the board right now is we don’t know who’ll play for the Brooklyn Nets. We know that Kevin Durant is out through the All-Star Break but Kyrie Irving also missed the Saturday game and while it looks like he’ll return, maybe James Harden gets a break. On top of that, the Nets depth chart has some questions as Jeff Green and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot are questionable for Monday’s affair. To be fair, though, Harden and four other scrubs might be all that the Nets need. He’s a man possessed right now. He averaged 25.6 points per game with 10.7 assists, 8.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals in the month of February. Getting Irving back improves this teams chances quite a bit but they’ve gotten great production out of Bruce Brown. The former second-round pick has scored 12, 14, 29 and 13 points in his last four games. He’s really capitalizing on the extra playing time with Durant out.

San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs have a good shot here because we never really know which Nets team is going to show up. They’ve mostly been unstoppable of late but they did look somewhat flat against the Mavericks at home on Saturday. This Spurs team has been surprisingly good, posting a record of 17-12 on the year. They’re a decent defensive team, for the most part, ranking 10th in the NBA in points-per-game allowed at 111.2. However, they struggle to defend the three and that could be an issue here. The Spurs rank 26th in the category and the Nets love their threes. They are second in the NBA at 40.4% from three, so the Spurs will have to step up in that regard if they’re to make a game of this.
