Nets vs. Raptors NBA Betting Odds

Brooklyn is the only team with a shot to catch Atlanta for the East’s final play-in tournament spot, but it’s an extreme long shot and almost surely not happening. The Raptors are three back of the Nets. Coach Jacque Vaughn was fired last month and replaced on an interim basis by former UConn national championship-winning Coach Kevin Ollie. He is being given every chance to earn the full-time job, but Brooklyn is only 5-12 under Ollie.

Former Raptors point guard Dennis Schroder, acquired in a February trade from Toronto along with Thaddeus Young for Spencer Dinwiddie, remains a key part of the Nets’ rotation (usually starts) and is averaging 13.8 points and 5.7 assists with his new team.

Monday is the third of four regular-season meetings between the clubs. They split the first two, each winning at home. Mikal Bridges is averaging 21.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in the two for Brooklyn and Nic Claxton 10.5 points and 9.0 rebounds. Gary Trent Jr. is averaging 20.0 points in the two for the Raptors.

Toronto leads the all-time series 61-49 and 36-19 as the home team.

Brooklyn Nets

Brooklyn lost its sixth game in a row Saturday, 105-93 at the Knicks. The Nets outshot the Knicks overall but New York attempted 21 more shots: “They went for every offensive rebound, they got every loose ball,” interim Nets coach Kevin Ollie said. “They just wanted it more.” Cam Thomas had a team-high 19 points in the loss, and Mikal Bridges had 18 points. Across his last eight games since returning from a six-game injury absence, Thomas is putting up 24.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Thomas has scored 1,202 points this year, already surpassing his total from his first two seasons combined (1,174 points). Ruled out Monday are guard Dennis Smith Jr. and forwards Cameron Johnson and Keita Bates-Diop. Johnson is the main guy of the trio as the starter averages 13.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. Smith Jr. is tied for second in the league in steals off the bench (63). The Nets are 1-5 ATS in their past six.

Toronto Raptors

Toronto lost its 10th game in a row Saturday but at least was competitive in a 112-109 defeat at a very bad Washington team. Bruce Brown missed a three-point attempt at the buzzer that would have forced overtime. The Dinos led by as many as 11 but clearly were worn down by the end with only eight healthy players available. Gary Trent Jr. led the Raptors with 31 points and was 10-for-10 at the free throw line. Trent became only the fourth player in franchise history to score at least 30 points while going perfect from the free throw line with at least 10 attempts and committing no turnovers. Still out at a minimum Monday are RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and Jontay Porter. We could see the debut of guard Kobi Simmons, who agreed to a 10-day contract with the Raptors on Sunday from the G-League. Simmons replaced Jahmi’us Ramsey, whose second 10-day deal expired Sunday. The Raptors are 1-5 ATS in their past six.
