Neither of the Brooklyn Nets or Denver Nuggets have performed up to expectations of late. Once labeled championship favorites, the Nets have looked mediocre without their MVP Kevin Durant. They have lost seven straight. Their most recent was a blowout loss to the Rudy Gobert-less Utah Jazz, 125-102.

They’ll have another shot to break their rough losing stretch against the Denver Nuggets, a squad that has lost three straight. One of these teams will get a much-needed win, so who will it be?

Nets vs. Nuggets NBA Betting Odds

The Nets are just 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games when coming into the matchup on just one day of rest. They haven’t fared too well when coming off of a loss either. They are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games when losing their previous matchup straight up. Brooklyn has been strong against Denver in particular though, winning six of their past eight matchups in Denver against the spread.

Meanwhile, the Nuggets are just 3-7-1 ATS in their past 11 games overall and 1-5 ATS in their past six games played on a Sunday. They have also lost their last six games against the spread when playing at home against a team with a winning road record. The over has been consistent for Denver at least, cashing out in seven of their past eight home games.

Brooklyn Nets

The biggest hit for the Nets lately is that Kevin Durant is still out with a knee injury. He isn’t expected to be available for this upcoming contest, leaving a massive hole offensively. To make matters worse, both Nic Claxton and James Harden are each listed as questionable due to hamstring issues. If both aren’t able to get going either, the Nets are just left with Kyrie Irving.

Irving has been alright since his return but he can’t carry this team on his own. He averages 22.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. One player to keep an eye on in this game is Cam Thomas. He was a star during the offseason in Brooklyn and dropped 30 points in his last game. The young guard could provide much needed offensive firepower with their stars banged up.

Denver Nuggets

The Nuggets unfortunately don’t have access to the better part of their roster outside of Nikola Jokic. Michael Porter Jr. got injured in the beginning of the season and has since been ruled out for the rest of the year.

Jamal Murray is still out after tearing his ACL towards the end of last season. With so many important options out, Jokic has had to carry this team on both ends of the floor. It’s the reason why he is the leader in every major statistical category and again an MVP candidate – although he’s not really in consideration given the Nuggets place in the standings. He averages 25.9 points, 13.7 rebounds, 7.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.7 blocks per game. If Jokic has an off-night, the Nuggets are likely sunk.
