The Brooklyn Nets improved to 6-6 on the season after beating the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night. Now they must face off against the New York Knicks in their next game, who are sitting at 5-6 after they were blown out by the Charlotte Hornets.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Nets are 3-7 ATS in their past 10 games overall and a lot of that has to do with their superstar players not being able to get onto the court. It has badly hurt their offensive production this season and it does not help that their defense has allowed the ninth most points per game to their opponents.

The complete opposite can be said about the Knicks, as the under is 8-0 in their last eight games overall. Much of that has to do with this young team playing elite level defense so far this season, ranking second in the league in points allowed per game.

Brooklyn Nets

When fully healthy, this team is arguably the best group in the league. The combination of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant along with their fantastic bench group has been able to win them quite a few games already in this young season. However, things have not been going their way lately as Irving has missed the last few games due to personal reasons with Durant also missing time.

To make matters worse, they lost their sixth man Spencer Dinwiddie to a torn ACL, which badly hurts this team’s offensive production – especially when one of Durant or Irving are not able to get onto the court. We know that Irving is out but if Durant is out too due to a back-to-back situation, the Knicks will be in great shape.

New York Knicks

The Knicks started the season well, winning five of their first eight games, but they’ve since lost three in a row. Their offense has disappeared as they’ve scored either 88 or 89 points in those contests and that’s a concern. The big issue has been the bench as the Knicks are getting next to nothing out of their secondary units. Overall, they are still fifth on the year in terms of bench scoring at 41.9 per game but they’ve been way off of those averages during the three-game losing streak. The bench contributed just 26 against Charlotte, 21 against Denver and 24 against Oklahoma City.

This team has a lot of nice young pieces but with no superstars, they’re not able to overcome the nights when the bench doesn’t do much. Julius Randle averages an impressive 22.1 points per game while R.J. Barrett is at 16.0. However, with nobody approaching the 30’s, they can’t afford to get nothing from the secondary scoring. If they don’t step up on Wednesday, the Knicks will lose again.
