The Philadelphia 76ers may be without Joel Embiid when they host the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night. Embiid, along with James Harden, missed Saturday’s win at Sacramento but while Harden was just given rest, Embiid is dealing with left foot soreness. If Embiid does sit out, it would again postpone the first meeting with him and former teammate Ben Simmons.

The Nets got some injury news too regarding their superstar in Kevin Durant, who is set to resume on-court activities but will be out another two weeks minimum.

Wednesday’s clash between the Nets and 76ers is a big one in the Eastern Conference standings. Philadelphia’s holding onto second place at 30-16, but the Nets are among others who are right behind. A Brooklyn win would tie them with Philadelphia in the standings.

Tip-off at Wells Fargo Center starts at 7:30 p.m. EST with the 76ers a 6.5-point favourite on the NBA odds.

Nets vs. 76ers NBA Betting Odds

Philadelphia’s been strong at home this season with wins in 17 of 24 games, but what’s even more impressive is they’re 16-8 against the spread at home. Brooklyn meanwhile has covered in two of their last seven outings, but are 4-2 ATS in their last six with Philadelphia. The Nets have had trouble beating the 76ers though, winning in five of their last 16 meetings, including two of their last nine trips to Philadelphia.

The 76ers also enter Wednesday coming off a 5-0 road trip, with wins in eight of their last 10. The total has gone over in six straight 76ers home games and in nine of Philadelphia’s last 11 overall.

Brooklyn Nets

Some stellar Kyrie Irving performances propelled Brooklyn to a pair wins in the their last three contests. Irving’s scored at least 30 points in three straight games, and 86 in his last two which were both Nets wins. Irving put up 38 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists in Brooklyn’s 120-116 victory over Golden State Sunday while shooting five for seven from deep. The Nets as a team went 14 for 27 from three-point range in the win.

The Nets are second in the NBA with a 38.9 three-point shooting percentage, and are also one of two clubs shooting over 50 per cent from the field. But ironically the Nets average the second-fewest shot attempts per game at 84, which has them as a below-average scoring team.

Philadelphia 76ers

Tyrese Maxey stepped up in the 76ers short-handed win Saturday, scoring a game-high 32 points. Tobias Harris, Montrezl Harrell, and Georges Niang all contributed with 17 points each. The 76ers, who are third-last in the NBA with 40.7 rebounds per game, had an abnormal night on the boards too as they outrebounded Sacramento 46-29. It gets even more bizarre considering Embiid and Harden are the team’s top two rebounders and did not suit up.

Embiid’s currently tied for the NBA scoring lead with 33.6 points per game. He’s averaged over 35 a game in January, scoring at least 30 points in all seven games he’s played. So whether he plays Wednesday will be massive in determining this game’s winner.
