The NBA regular season has officially come to a close and all the first round playoff matchups have been set. With a ton of exciting matchups to dive into, we will be looking over Game 1 of the series between the Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Clippers. It will be a rematch of the first round last season when the Clippers knocked Dallas out, winning 4-2. Can the Mavericks get their revenge?

Mavericks vs. Clippers NBA Playoff Odds

The Mavericks are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games against teams with a winning percentage over .600 on the season. They have a solid chance to steal Game 1 on the road against the Clippers but will have to fight through a great defensive duo in Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, they are expected to hound Luka Doncic all night and make this opening game very difficult.

Meanwhile, the Clippers are 5-1 ATS in their past six games at home against a team with a winning road record. It won’t be easy here, but their team has far more playoff experience as a whole and should be able to jump off to a hot start in Game 1.

Dallas Mavericks

The Mavericks give themselves a chance in this matchup due to the incredible duo of Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. Doncic has turned some heads once again this year with his averages of 27.7 points, eight rebounds and 8.6 assists per game. He has been the main facilitator on this 42-30 Dallas team that was able to secure themselves a spot as the number five seed out in the loaded Western Conference. He is more than likely to put up great numbers in what should be a fiery Game 1, but the team will have to get somebody else involved if they want to win. Jalen Brunson should be that guy for the Mavericks, he averaged 12.1 points on the year while coming off the bench all but 12 games. He could be the X-factor in this matchup.

Keep in mind that they started the year slow but finished well, winning 12 of their final 16 contests.

Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers didn’t have a great postseason run last year but they should be more than capable of defeating the Mavericks in the playoffs again. The combination of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George have devastated opposing teams both offensively and defensively all season long. However, they give themselves an edge over the Mavericks due to their experienced veterans across their roster.

Players like Rajon Rondo and Serge Ibaka will be crucial throughout this series for the Clippers and could provide extra levels of offense in case their stars struggle. Remember, this team had a star-studded cast last year but completely retooled – including firing head coach Doc Rivers and bringing in Ty Lue. It’s championship or bust for this team. A shaky outing in Game 1 will make a lot of people worry that they’re still the same old Clippers.
