There’s a degree of pazazz missing from Friday’s matchup between Dallas and Philadelphia because of Luka Doncic’s injured ankle. The Luka-less Mavericks travel to the City of Brotherly Love to take on Ben Simmons and the 76ers.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Dallas is coming off a 108-103 home loss to the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night. The squad is 1-1 straight up and against the spread since Luka Doncic suffered an ankle injury on Sunday.

The Mavs shocked the NBA by beating Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday. Dallas was without Luka and a 10.5-point road underdog against the first place Bucks. Mark Cuban’s team is 5-3 ATS as an underdog – a title it carries again on Friday against the Sixers.

The Mavericks are the NBA’s best Over bet with an 18-9 Over/Under record. The Over is 4-1 in their last five games, and 8-3 in their 11 away games. Dallas is 3-0 against the number in its last three games against Philly.

The Sixers enter Friday’s tilt looking to end a two-game losing streak. They followed up an upset loss to the Nets on Sunday by falling to the Miami Heat on Wednesday as 8-point home favourites.

Philly is 0-2-2 ATS in its last four games with the favourite tag. The loss to Miami ended the Sixers’ unbeaten run at the Wells Fargo Center. They’re now 14-1 SU (7-6-2 ATS) on their home floor.

Dallas Mavericks

The Mavs own the league’s best offence, but they’re missing the ignition button with Doncic sidelined. Dallas is scoring 116.4 points per 100 possessions, but the club tallied just 103 points in its loss against the C’s.

Luka is averaging 29.3 points, 9.6 rebounds and 8.9 assists this season. And it might not just be Doncic missing in action on Friday. Guards Seth Curry and Delon Wright are both questionable to play with various injuries.

Philadelphia 76ers

Philly finally has its starting five back together. The five-man lineup of Ben Simmons, Josh Richardson, Joel Embiid, Al Horford, and Tobias Harris has played just 132 minutes together.

Sixers GM Elton Brand had defence in mind when he constructed the roster in the summer. The early data suggests he wasn’t off the mark. The above mentioned lineup is allowing just 91.9 points per 100 possessions.
