What’s wrong with Dame? That’s the burning question in Oregon these days, with Damian Lillard off to one of the slowest starts of his incredible career.

The Los Angeles Lakers built themselves a top-heavy team this offseason – and when one of their Big Three isn’t in the lineup, they’re at a major disadvantage. That will be the case again Saturday night as the Lakers look to remain above the .500 mark against a host Portland Trail Blazers team that can get back on even footing with a win. Los Angeles will be without star LeBron James, who is out indefinitely with an abdominal injury.

Lakers vs. Trail Blazers NBA Betting Odds

Portland is a comfortable favourite here, and Sports Interaction bettors see a value opportunity with the visitors; 67 percent are siding with a Lakers team that has covered in 10 of the past 14 head-to-head meetings (including six straight at Moda Center). Neither team has been a strong ATS play this season, with L.A. at 2-7 and the Blazers posting a 3-6 mark. And the Lakers’ ATS woes have gone on even longer than that, as they’ve covered just two of their past 12 games.

Saturday’s total of 222 is on the high side by today’s NBA standards. And you might see quite a bit of action on the Under here, with the Lakers having gone 5-4 O/U but playing without their future Hall-of-Fame forward and the Blazers having converted just three Overs in their first nine games. Portland is 6-1 to the Under in its past seven games, with only one of those games finishing with more than 216 combined points scored.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers have looked much better of late – going on a 5-1 SU run prior to Thursday’s 107-104 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder – and can thank a fellow member of James’s 2003 Draft Class for their bounce-back from an 0-2 start. Carmelo Anthony has turned back the clock in his 19th NBA season, averaging 17.0 points per game (his highest mark since 2016-17) while shooting 50.5 percent from the field – well above his 44.7-percent career average.

Portland Trail Blazers

What’s wrong with Dame? That’s the burning question in Oregon these days, with Damian Lillard off to one of the slowest starts of his incredible career. Lillard comes into the weekend averaging just 17.8 ppg while shooting an ice-cold 33.7 percent from the floor, the second-worst rate among 136 qualified players. On the plus side, Lillard has averaged 8.8 assists through nine games, the highest rate of his career.
