There are few teams more adored by public NBA bettors than the Lakers. That’s what makes their 4-0 SU and ATS run that more impressive. The Lakers covered as double-digit favourites against Memphis and Charlotte, and they won outright on Friday night as 1-point underdogs at Dallas on Friday night.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

LA enters Sunday’s tilt with a 4-1 mark straight up and against the spread on the campaign. The lone loss came on opening night against Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers.

San Antonio is winning games but failing to cover spreads. Gregg Popovich’s squad is just 1-4 against the number despite a 4-1 SU record on the season. The Spurs are coming off a win and cover against the depleted Golden State Warriors. They won 127-110 in San Francisco on Friday night.

Popovich-led teams are normally known for their defending, but that hasn’t been the case this year. San Antonio is in the middle of the pack in defensive net rating (16th, 107.1 points allowed per 100 possessions). It’s thrown off oddsmakers a bit. The Over is 4-1 in Spurs games.

The Lakers went 0-3-1 against the spread last season against the Spurs with the lone outright win resulting in an ATS push.

Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron James isn’t playing like a 17-year veteran. The 34-year-old is averaging 26.4 points, 10.8 assists, and 7.4 rebounds per game. King James finished with a 39-16-12 line on 56.5 percent shooting from the field during Friday’s win against the Mavericks.

Anthony Davis is playing through a shoulder injury and still making opposing defense look silly. The All-Star big man is averaging 29.2 points and 11.6 rebounds per game while contributing at the defensive end of the floor too. The Lakers allow just 94.4 points per 100 possessions with Davis on the court.

San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs are chugging along with reliable veterans DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge leading the way. The pair are averaging a combined 39.8 points per game. There are plenty of other threats in this roster outside of DeMar and LA. San Antonio boasts seven players in its rotation averaging 10 or more points per game.
