Doncic comes in as the NBA’s top scorer with 33.2 points while James is seventh with 29.6. The Lakers are in need of wins, currently 1.5 games back of the final playoff spot in the West. Dallas sits in sixth in the West, but three games back of third and three games ahead of 12th.

With a 142-116 dub over San Antonio on Thursday Mavs got back in the win column last week too after three straight losses heading into the All-Star break. Los Angeles got a win Thursday too and now have three wins in their last four outings.

Tip-off at American Airlines Center goes at 3:30 p.m. EST with Dallas a four-point favourite and the total at 236 on the NBA odds.

Lakers vs. Mavericks NBA Betting Odds

It’s been all Mavericks when these teams meet, with Dallas winning in six of their last seven contests with the Lakers and covering in all seven games. Sunday’s the third of four regular season meetings between these teams, with Dallas winning 124-115 on Christmas Day and then 119-115 in double overtime on January 12.

The road hasn’t been a pleasant place for L.A. this season, winning 13 of 31 away from home this season. Dallas is much better on home court too with wins in 20 of their 30 home games. The Mavs have only covered in one of their last six at home though, and are also 1-5 outright in their last five appearances on a Sunday.

Los Angeles Lakers

Eight Lakers finished in double-digits in their 124-111 victory over Golden State Thursday. L.A. also scored a season-high 68 bench points as suddenly this team may have more than just LeBron and Anthony Davis. Case in point is Malik Beasley, who led the team with 25 points and was red hot from deep going seven for 11 from three.

The Lakers are still a bottom-five shooting team from three-point range, but the arrivals of Beasley among others from the trade deadline are already helping that out. LeBron and the Lakers are on a playoff push, and he and this new cast can make a big statement at Dallas.

Dallas Mavericks

Thursday’s win against San Antonio was the first victory Luka and new point guard Kyrie Irving have been together for in Dallas. The Mavs exploded for 142 points, shooting 56 per cent from the field and nailing 22 threes. Tim Hardaway Jr. led the club with six made threes off the bench, while Justin Holliday was the most efficient making five of his six three-point attempts.

Doncic came three assists shy of his 11th triple-double this season, recording 28 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Luka’s still averaging over 31 points a game this month, but the arrival of Irving should not only take a load off Doncic’s shoulders but also boost a below-average scoring Dallas offence. Irving has at least 23 points in all five of his games with the Mavs while shooting nearly 55 per cent from the field.
