For the fourth and final time this season, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers play Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks. Anthony Davis and Kristaps Porzingis are both expected to miss Friday’s clash, but that should allow James and Doncic to go mano-a-mano stuffing the stat sheet.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Lakers are heading on the road after completing a five-game sweep of their homestand that included a 13-point win over the Mavericks at the end of last month. The Purple and Gold easily covered as double-digit favourites against the New York Knicks on Tuesday, but the win didn’t come without a cost.

All-Star big man Anthony Davis came down awkwardly on his lower back and could miss an extended period of time. X-rays didn’t show any damage but the Lakers hinted they would take a cautious approach with Davis.

Los Angeles is 6-0 straight up in its last six games, but just 3-2-1 against the spread over that same period. The club is four games up on the Denver Nuggets for first place in the West standings.

Sports Interaction list the Lakers as co-favourites with the Clippers to win the NBA championships at +315. That means a $100 wager on the Lakers would pay $315 should they go the distance in the playoffs.

The Mavericks are in the middle of a rough patch of play. They’re coming off a 107-106 home loss to the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday as 4-point favourites. The result pushed their record to 2-4 straight up in their last six games, and 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine.

Los Angeles Lakers

Expect the Kyle Kuzma trade rumours to heat up as the trade deadline approaches. Kuzma’s preferred position overlaps with James and Davis. The Lakers will have an opportunity to showcase the third year forward while Anthony is out with injury. It might make sense to bet the Over on his point total props for the next few games.

Dallas Mavericks

Luka Doncic can’t do it all for Dallas. The second year playmaker is putting up big numbers but the Mavs are missing Kristaps Porzingis. The Mavericks have had both of their star players active in just three of their last 12 games. It should come as no great shock the Mavs possess a mediocre record over those 12 games – 6-6 straight up, and 4-7-1 against the number.
