Games against the Sacramento Kings were supposed to be easy victories to pad Los Angeles’ win total and help LeBron James lead the Lakers back to the playoffs. Nearly a month into the season, NBA bettors have come to realize the Kings are no pushovers and LeBron isn’t enough to back the Purple and Gold.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Lakers come into Saturday’s late game well rested. LA has played just one game over the last five days and that was a narrow home win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. LeBron and Co. have won three of their last four, but they’ve covered the spread in just one of their last six contests.

At 3-8 against the spread, the Lakers are second only to the Washington Wizards for the ugly title as worst early season bet in the Association. It’s a different for the NBA team in the northern part of the state.

The Kings have been the laughingstocks of league for the last decade and their last playoff appearance was back in 2006. The early returns suggest Sacramento will be challenging for a seat in the postseason in the final weeks of the campaign.

The club is 7-5 straight up and 8-4 ATS through its first 12 games. The Kings are coming off a 121-110 win over the T-Wolves despite being tagged as 2-point home underdogs in the contest. Sacramento is getting points again at home on Saturday even though the team is 4-0-1 ATS as a home pup this season.

Sports Interaction bettors aren’t scared off by the trend. About 56 percent of its customers are backing the Lakers to cover as 5.5-point favourites while 80 percent expect the game to go Over the 239-point total.

Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron James is putting up big stats in his first season playing on the West Coast, but there’s a disturbing trend bubbling for his supporters: The Lakers are playing better without the King on the court.

Los Angeles owns a -2.7 net rating with James on the floor and a +7.4 rating with him on the bench. Now, it’s still early and it could be just the effect of James resting in the final minutes of blowouts. But for as bad as things got in his last year in Cleveland, the Cavaliers always played better when LBJ was on the floor and not off it.

Sacramento Kings

Sacramento is finally taking advantage of its years toiling in the NBA lottery with high drafts like De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield leading the charge. The blossoming back-court partnership is averaging a combined 38.2 points, 10.3 rebounds and 10.2 assists per game.

Fox is the key to the Kings’ attack. His athleticism and speed are on par with Russell Westbrook and he’s the reason Sacramento leads the league in pace (possessions per 48 minutes).
