The Sacramento Kings are going through a five-game skid, and things won’t get any easier on Wednesday when they welcome the red hot LeBron James and Los Angeles Lakers to town. LeBron’s averaging over 30 points a game dating back to December 1, which has led to wins in five of L.A.’s last seven contests.

The Kings current losing streak began against the Lakers back on January 4 when they fell 122-114 at Los Angeles; the Lakers are 2-1 against Sacramento this season with the Kings’ lone win coming in triple overtime.

The Lakers are favoured to win on the NBA odds. Tip-off at Golden 1 Center goes at 10 p.m. EST.

Lakers vs. Kings NBA Betting Odds

L.A.’s covered in nine of their last 13 against the Kings, including the last five at Sacramento. Overall the Lakers have struggled on the road in 2021–22 with a 7-9 record straight up and 8-8 against the spread. Sacramento’s just 10-14 straight up at home, and 11-13 against the spread.

In their three prior meetings this season, the Lakers have averaged 125.3 points per game and Lebron 30.5 himself, although James missed their second meeting. The Lakers are also the league’s fifth-highest scoring team with 112 points per game and the Kings allow the third-most points per game at a 113.6. That said, the under is 15-9 in the Kings’ 24 homes games this year.

Los Angeles Lakers

Since Anthony Davis went down with a knee injury on December 17, LeBron’s taken his game to another level. In the 11 Lakers games between then and now, James has scored at least 30 points in all but one. In the month of January he’s averaged 31 points, seven rebounds, and six assists per game while shooting just under 55 per cent the field — L.A.’s 3-1 in that span too.

James’ 28.9 points per game ranks second in the NBA and his best average since the 2009–10 season. When it comes to the other four Lakers starters, when they last took the court on Sunday versus Memphis they combined for 22 points on eight of 39 shooting from the field and two of 10 from beyond the arc.

Sacramento Kings

De’Aaron Fox isn’t to blame for Sacramento’s current skid, as the 2017 fifth-overall pick put up back-to-back-to-back 30-point games that resulted in three losses. Fox’s 20.7 points per game is down from his past two years but he’s off to a hot start in 2022, unlike his club. The Kings have allowed 676 points (112.6 per game) in their six appearances in January as defence continues to be an issue.

One bright spot for the team is point guard Tyrese Haliburton. The second-year pro has lead Sacramento in scoring in back-to-back games and has reached double-digits in four straight.
