While Los Angeles has been an awful cover option of late, the Jazz have made bettors very happy as one of the hottest teams in the league.

On one hand, it could be argued that the Los Angeles Lakers have momentum on their side following an impressive 124-106 win over Washington on Tuesday night. But bettors might be hesitant to ride the wave as the Lakers face a quick turnaround with a Wednesday matchup against the host Utah Jazz.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Jazz come into this one having won seven of eight, and should see plenty of action on the spread even as a whopping 13-point favourite. Utah is 7-1 ATS over the course of its hot streak, and has covered 10 of its past 14 against Western Conference opponents. The Lakers were successful against the spread Tuesday, but have gone 0-4 ATS in their previous four road games with just one cover in their last five games on the tail end of a back-to-back.

The total for this one is holding steady at 216.5, with both teams coming in with strong under trends under their belts. The Lakers have gone below the number in each of their previous four games while boasting a 4-14-3 O/U mark in their last 21 on zero days’ rest. Utah’s under trends aren’t quite as pronounced, but the Jazz are 7-2 to the under in their past nine against Western Conference foes and have four under results in their past five home games.

Los Angeles Lakers

It has come to this for LeBron James’ Lakers: They’ll need to win each of their final eight games to avoid finishing with a losing record for a sixth straight season. But despite the dire situation the Lakers find themselves in, James has no intention of coasting to the finish line. The 34-year-old is averaging 29.2 points in March – his highest scoring average of any month – while adding 9.8 assists and 8.0 rebounds and shooting 50 percent from the floor.

Utah Jazz

Utah is on the verge of securing a playoff berth thanks in large part to an incredible defensive showing down the stretch. The Jazz have held opponents to 100 or fewer points five times in their previous eight games – a feat practically unheard of in today’s NBA – and that stout stretch has improved them to fourth overall in average points per game allowed (106.0). Utah has held the Lakers to an average of 92.5 points in their first two meetings this season.
