Wednesday night marks the final regular season battle of L.A. and it’s the most important contest of the season for both the Lakers and Clippers. With three games to go, both clubs are tied in sixth place in the West at exactly 41-38. The winner of this bout becomes the odds on favourite to finish sixth and avoid the play-in tournament, which is worst case for either club.

Wednesday’s also a chance for the Lakers to make it eight wins in their last nine outings. The Clippers meanwhile have dropped two straight, last playing Saturday at New Orleans. The Lakers aren’t as rested as they travel home from Utah where they escaped with a 135-133 overtime victory on Tuesday. Tip-off at Crypto.com Arena Wednesday is set for 10 p.m. ET.

The Clippers are 4-point favourites to win on the NBA odds.

Lakers vs. Clippers NBA Betting Odds

The Clippers have taken 10 straight meetings with the Lakers, including all three prior to this season. In two of those three losses this season, the Lakers put up 101 or fewer points. The Clippers are also 9-1 against the spread in their last 10 outings with the Lakers.

Five of the last six Clippers games have gone over the total, as have five straight Lakers games. Both clubs are 21-18 on home court this season, which is another ironic stat that matters given they share the arena. Out of the Clippers’ 39 home games, only 12 have finished over the total.

Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron James refused to come home without a win on Tuesday, scoring a game-high 37 points along with the contest’s winning basket. Anthony Davis got his 37th double-double of the season with 21 points and 14 rebounds, while Austin Reaves contributed 28 points on eight-of-13 shooting from the field. Rui Hachimura finished with double-digit points (17) for the second straight game. L.A. was without D’Angelo Russell because of left foot soreness. Russell is unlikely to play against the Clippers.

Over all four wins of this streak the Lakers have scored at least 121 points. With 116.7 points per outing, L.A. ranks eighth in the NBA in points, while being a bottom-five three-point shooting team.

Los Angeles Clippers

As the playoffs near, Kawhi Leonard is playing more minutes. In Saturday’s loss, Leonard played over 40 minutes for the first time since February 24, and 22 additional minutes compared to the Clippers loss Friday at Memphis. Leonard also dropped 40 points for the first time since February 24. And with LeBron on the court Wednesday, Leonard should be just as busy.

The key difference in L.A.’s last two losses has been offence, or a lack off. Saturday they finished the final quarter with 24 points and the night earlier had 94 total. Scoring isn’t the Clippers strong suit but in four of their last five wins they’ve managed to score at least 124 points.
