Knicks vs. Raptors NBA Betting Odds

This is the last time this season we can somewhat evaluate the late-December trade that saw Toronto ship OG Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn to the Knicks for RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and a 2024 second-round pick. The Knicks have been great when Anunoby has been healthy, but he has been limited only 17 games with his new team due to injury. Remember, the Knicks still have to re-sign Anunoby this summer.

Barrett and Quickley both have played much better since the trade but both of them have been sidelined recently as well. I’d call the trade a draw for now. If Anunoby happens to return from his injury and lead New York to the Eastern Conference Finals, then the Knicks won the deal for this season.

The Knicks go for the four-game season sweep of the Raptors with All-Star guard Jalen Brunson averaging 27.0 points and 8.7 assists in them. Fellow All-Star Julius Randle, out injured currently himself, averaged 24.0 points and 11.3 rebounds in the three.

Toronto still leads the all-time series 61-48 and is 35-18 at home. The Knicks are just 2-12 in the past 14 as the road team in the series even with a win at Scotiabank Arena on Dec. 1. This will be only the second time in the last 13 years where Toronto will drop the season series (other: 2020-21).

New York Knicks

The Knicks will be in the Eastern Conference playoffs and should avoid the play-in tournament. They probably finish anywhere from third through fifth in the East; getting in the top four means home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. It’s hard to know how good this team can be until the return from injury of starters OG Anunoby, Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson – Robinson appears the closest to a return of the three but not likely Wednesday. New York won for the sixth time in seven games Monday, 124-99 vs. Detroit behind a career-high 40 points on a franchise-record 11 made three-pointers from Donte DiVincenzo, who is having his best season. DiVincenzo is eight made three-pointers from breaking the team’s single-season record of 241. Jalen Brunson added 28 points, and Josh Hart had 11 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists in his sixth triple-double this season. Reserve guard Alec Burks was out with a shoulder injury. New York is 4-1 ATS in its past five.

Toronto Raptors

Not much more to say about the Raptors at this point as they are now clearly one of the worst teams in the NBA following an 11th straight loss Monday, 96-88 at home to Brooklyn – which entered on a six-game losing streak of its own. Gary Trent Jr. led the Dinos with 18 points. They were extremely short-handed again because of injury (Scottie Barnes, Jakob Poeltl) and personal reasons (RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, Jontay Porter). Both Barrett and Quickley have rejoined the Raptors and practiced Tuesday and could return Wednesday. News broke right before Monday’s game that Porter is under investigation by the NBA following multiple instances of betting irregularities on props involving Porter over the past several months. That’s obviously very serious so Porter might have played his last NBA game this year. He is on a two-way contract with the Raptors earning $415,000 (U.S) this season. The Dinos are 0-8 ATS in their past eight at home. They are looking to avoid their 50th overall loss of the season, having last lost that many in 2010-11. Entering this campaign, only Miami (15 years) had gone longer without recording a 50-loss season.
