The Lakers enter Wednesday in ninth in the West with a 34-29 record, but with wins in four of their last six. Sacramento’s dropped three of four, putting them at 34-26 and seventh in the West. A Lakers win gets them to .5 games back of the Kings, and right around the cut-off for the play-in seeds.

And while it’s way too early to say how the West’s standings shake out, a play-in game between the Kings and Lakers is on the table — making Wednesday a tone-setting kind of contest. Tip-off at Crypto.com Arena goes at 10:30 p.m. EST, with the Lakers a 3.5-point favourite on home court and the total at 239.5 on the NBA odds.

Kings vs. Lakers NBA Betting Odds

The up-and-coming Kings have already been a problem for the veteran Lakers. In the last seven Kings–Lakers meetings, Sacramento is 6-1 both against the spread and outright. The Kings have covered in seven of their last eight trips to L.A. to face the Lakers too.

Wednesday’s the third of four regular season meetings between the Kings and Lakers and Sacramento is aiming to make it a perfect three for three when it comes to winning. The Kings scored a minimum of 125 points in both of their wins over L.A. this season. The over has hit in six of the last eight Kings–Lakers contests.

Sacramento Kings

With star point guard De’Aaron Fox back from a two-game absence, the Kings seemed prime to beat up on a mediocre Bulls team Monday. And Sacramento started off doing exactly such, wrapping up the first quarter on a 17-1 run to get a 14-point lead. The Kings got up as much as 22 points, only to get outscored by 18 in the final quarter and suffer a shocking loss. The Kings are now 1-3 over their last four outings and have failed to score over 110 points in any of the losses.

Fox led the way on Monday with 20 points but contributed to a poor shooting night from the Kings. As a team Sacramento shot 11 for 37 from the three-point line, proving to be pivotal in the 113-109 loss. As the stakes get higher, Sacramento needs to be sharper from the arc.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers vets come into Wednesday a little fresher than expected, as Anthony Davis and LeBron James got to rest throughout the final quarter of a large win over Oklahoma City on Monday. The Lakers led by as much as 25 points in the 116-104 win with several starters having efficient, but effective nights. Davis played 30 minutes but still had a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds, while James finished two assists shy of a triple-double in just 31 minutes of court time. L.A. knocked down 16 of their 34 three-point attempts in the win too.

Since the All-Star break, the Lakers have been hot on quite a scoring run. L.A.’s hit 110 points in seven straight outings but only have four wins to show for. And with Sacramento coming into town, another shootout is on the horizon.
