The Lakers just got shellacked by the Blazers, losing by 15 points and dropping back down to .500 on the year. Which of these teams will be able to right their loss last week?
The Charlotte Hornets are coming off a disastrous loss. They went a full six-minute stretch without scoring in the fourth quarter en route to a colossal collapse. They were unable to stay ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers, falling down to 5-6 on the season despite scoring 39 in the opening quarter. The loss also marks a four-game losing streak that they’ll carry into a matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Lakers just got shellacked by the Portland Trail Blazers, losing by 15 points and dropping back down to .500 on the year. Which of these teams will be able to right their loss last week?
Hornets vs. Lakers NBA Betting Odds
The Hornets are just 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games played on the road and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. They are also 2-9 ATS in their past 11 when coming into the matchup as the road underdog. The over has been consistent when playing in back to backs though, cashing out in five of their last six games under those circumstances.
On the other hand, the Lakers are 3-7-1 ATS in their past 11 games played on a Monday. The team is also 8-22-1 ATS in their last 31 overall matchups. Safe to say that this Los Angeles squad is struggling, with a 3-13 ATS record on top of all that when coming into a matchup as a home favorite. Unlike Charlotte, Los Angeles has seen the under cash out in four of their last five overall.
Charlotte Hornets
The Hornets were unfortunately victim to a cold stretch offensively in their last game, which was the biggest reasons why they fell to the Clippers. Despite that painful loss, though, a few players put up some great stats. LaMelo Ball dropped 21 points, seven rebounds and three assists and Miles Bridges echoed that 21-point performance himself. Charlotte is still an incredibly young team that plays with a load of energy, which makes them a tough matchup regardless of talent. They will need to get better down the stretch of games, though, particularly on the offensive end. They are still growing and trying to figure out their identity, and that was evident against the Clippers.
Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers dropped another tough game, this time to the Trail Blazers. It makes it even worse when you realize that Portland only scored 12 points in the entire fourth quarter and still won by double digits. The loss of LeBron James to this starting lineup completely alters the performance of this team. Anthony Davis was mediocre with just two points in seven minutes of action. Russell Westbrook didn’t really help them out much himself shooting one for 13 from the floor with eight total points. The Lakers have a lot of veterans on the roster and chemistry has been a little difficult to come by in the early stages. Couple that with some poor offensive stretches and a couple of injuries to their stars and you have a .500 roster. They need everybody back healthy to win this one.
