Jimmy Butler gets a second chance to remind the Philly faithful of what they once had in the All-Star wing when the Miami Heat visit the 76ers on Wednesday. The Sixers are hoping to bounce back from a disappointing loss, and regain their steam up the Eastern Conference standings.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

There isn’t a better spread bet in the NBA than backing the Miami Heat. The club is 17-9-1 ATS – good for a 65.4 percent cover rate. Of course there are some warning signs about the club. The Heat are 10-2 against the number at home and just 7-7-1 in away gyms.

They also got smoked by the Sixers in Philadelphia just last month. Philly won 113-86 and easily covered as a 5.5-point home favourite. Miami is coming off an ugly road loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night.

The result snapped a three-game cover streak in which the Heat took down Dallas, kept it close against the Lakers, and snatched an overtime win over the Atlanta Hawks despite trailing by six points with less than a minute to play in the fourth quarter.

Miami has long been known for its defence, but bettors are seeing an interesting Over trend. The Heat have played Over the total in five straight games. They’ve also shown a propensity to bounce back from outright losses. They’re 8-1 against the number in their last nine games after a loss.

The Sixers are 8-2 straight up in their last 10 games and now first in the Atlantic Division. They are coming off a 20-point loss at Brooklyn despite entering the game as 3.5-point favourites.

Miami Heat

If you haven’t been paying attention, the Heat have a soon-to-be All-Star manning the pivot. Bam Adebayo is averaging 15.2 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 4.7 (!) assists per game in his third pro season.

The Heat traded away Hassan Whiteside in part because they wanted to pave a clear path to starter’s minutes for Adebayo. He isn’t letting his team down. The Heat are allowing just 102.9 points per 100 possessions with Adebayo protecting the cup.

Philadelphia 76ers

Good news Philly backers; Joel Embiid is returned to practice on Tuesday, and he is expected to play on Wednesday against the Heat. The All-Star big man missed Monday’s game against the Nets because of a respiratory issue. The Sixers are 3-3 SU (2-3-1 ATS) in games without Embiid and 17-5 with him in the lineup.
