I's a quick turnaround for both the Knicks and Celtics as they'll each play the second half of a back-to-back when they meet at Madison Square Garden in New York on Saturday night.

It’s wheels up for the 5-3 Boston Celtics as they head to New York Saturday to play the Knicks with both clubs on back-to-backs. The Celtics defeated Chicago 123-119 on home court Friday, with Jayson Tatum registering a game-high 36 points. The 4-4 Knicks snapped a three-game losing streak on Friday, beating Philadelphia 106-104.

Saturday’s the first of four regular season meetings between these clubs, with the remaining three coming in the new year. Tip-off at Madison Square Garden gets going at 7:30 p.m. EDT with Boston a 3.5-point favourite on the road and the over-under at 223.5 on the NBA odds.

Celtics vs. Knicks NBA Betting Odds

Both clubs are struggling when it comes to covering the spread, with each team covering in one of their last five appearances. New York also isn’t great ATS on Saturdays, covering twice in their last eight Saturday outings. Head-to-head Boston’s won 11 of their last 16 matchups with the Knicks, and overall Boston is 14-6 ATS in their last 20 games played on the road.

The over is 3-1 in the Celtics’ four road games this season, with the team averaging 116 points per game overall this year — good for seventh in the NBA. New York is 21st with allowing 115.1 points per outing, which shapes up well for the Celtics.

Boston Celtics

Tatum’s 36-point night on Friday put him above a 30-point average on the season, something just nine NBA players are doing right now. Tatum’s been part of a one-two punch on offence as Jaylen Brown continues to average 26 a night, but was held to 16 points against Chicago.

The Celtics have made their money at the free throw line all season, and Tatum knocked down 17 free throws on 20 attempts against the Bulls. Malcom Brogdon also converted on seven of nine free throw attempts and finished with 25 points off the bench while shooting 90 per cent from the field. Brogdon’s 13.6 points per game ranks third on the team.

New York Knicks

Jalen Brunson led New York in scoring for the third straight time on Friday, scoring 23 points on seven of 15 shooting from the field. RJ Barrett was right behind with 22 points on the night, and Julius Randle chipped in with 17 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. This trio are all averaging at least 17 points per game. Brunson’s 18.4-point average leads the club.

The Knicks converted on just nine of 33 three-point attempts as it continues to be an area they’re struggling in, ranking 24th in the NBA with a 32.9 percentage from the arc. On the positive side, New York continues to be one of the leagues’ best rebounding teams with 50.1 a game.
