It’s the latter of a two-game road trip for Boston, who is riding a three-game win streak. The 76ers last took the court Wednesday and fell to Charlotte 109-98 — the end of a 16-game skid for the Hornets. Despite the loss, Philadelphia’s won eight of their last 10 and enter as the hotter club.

Tip-off at Wells Fargo Center goes at 7 p.m. EST. The 76ers are a three-point favourite at home with the over-under set at 212 on the NBA odds.

Philadelphia’s been on a tear against the spread versus the Celtics by covering in all of their last six meetings. Friday’s the third meeting of the season between these clubs, with Boston taking the first on December 1 and Philadelphia evening it up with a dub 19 days later. Both teams made 20 free throws in the December 20th meeting, in what turned out to be a chippy affair.

Boston’s just 8-13 on the road this season, a main driver for their .500 season thus far. Ironically, the 23-17 76ers and under .500 at home — meaning someone’s improving in area they’ve underperformed in thus far.

Boston Celtics

The Celtics’ winning streak started last Saturday versus the Knicks and has now been extended with back-to-back wins over the Pacers. Jaylen Brown’s led the team in scoring in all three outings, averaging 27 points a night. Brown’s best performance came in their most recent win as he netted 34 on 11 of 19 shooting from the field including seven made threes.

Brown and Jason Tatum are each averaging over 24 points a night for Boston, and combined for 67 in their latest win over Indiana. Tatum’s 25.7 points leads the Celtics, and his 8.4 rebounds per game ranks second on the club.

Philadelphia 76ers

Before Wednesday, Philadelphia was riding a seven-game heater. Despite the loss, star forward Joel Embiid is still riding of a steak of his own with eight-straight 30-point games. Embiid joins Allen Iverson and Wilt Chamberlain as the only Sixers to accomplish such feat. Strangely enough, Embiid’s scored exactly 31 points in each of his last five games too.

The 76ers went an uncharacteristic 18 of 28 (64 per cent) from the charity stripe against Charlotte. On the season, Philadelphia averages 81 per cent from the line which is in the top five teams. Granted Philadelphia lost by nine to Charlotte, the 76ers were their own worst enemy with the 10 missed free throws.
