The 15-17 Hawks are already without star guard Trae Young, as well as veterans Danilo Gallinari and Lou Williams. Now forward John Collins is in the protocols, eliminating nearly the entire Atlanta starting lineup.

Chicago’s dealing with their own COVID issues too, albeit more minor. Guard Lonzo Ball became the team’s third player to enter the NBA’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols on Sunday, joining forward Alfonzo McKinnie, centre Tony Bradley, and head coach Billy Donovan.

Tip-off at State Farm Arena goes at 7:30 p.m. EST. Chicago is currently a 5.5-point road favourite with the over-under at 208 on the NBA odds.

Bulls vs. Hawks NBA Betting Odds

The 20-10 Bulls are entering Wednesday night on a three-game win streak, and have also won eight of their last 11 games. The Hawks meanwhile are struggling, with losses in five of their last seven including a 14-point loss at New York on Christmas Day.

On the season, Chicago’s been one of the best teams against the spread at 19-11. Atlanta’s 7-9 against the spread at home this season but have failed to cover in eight straight home games — losing seven of them straight up.

When it comes to the total, the under is 5-2 in Atlanta’s last seven games and 4-2 in the last six Bulls–Hawks games.

Chicago Bulls

Chicago’s coming off a 113-105 win at Indiana last night, making Wednesday their third back-to-back this season. Zach Lavine scored a game-high 32 in the win over the Pacers, which was also Lavine’s return from COVID protocols. Nikola Vucevic added 16 points and 15 rebounds, and is now averaging a double-double this season with 15.5 points per game and 10.6 rebounds.

Despite having three players on the COVID list, Chicago’s still with most of their key guys. Ball is the only starter out and the only player out who’s averaging double-digit points. Team leading scorer DeMar DeRozan is still in, and has scored at least 20 points in his last eight appearances while averaging over 30 points a contest in December.

Atlanta Hawks

As it stands, the Hawks projected starting lineup is going to look something like this: forwards Bogdan Bogdanovic and Cam Reddish, Clint Capela at centre, and likely Lance Stephenson and Skyler Mays at the guard spots. Atlanta will have 10 players available, most of whom have been signed in the last week. Bogdanovic and Capela are the only two regular starters too.

Those two combined for 14 points on four of 19 shooting in Atlanta’s loss Saturday at New York, which indicates scoring may be tough to come by for the Hawks. Reddish is Atlanta’s top healthy scorer with 12.1 points per game.
