The Philadelphia 76ers will be a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference – as soon as they get their full roster back and healthy. That won’t be the case Sunday, however, with Joel Embiid sidelines for the 76ers’ trip to Oklahoma City. The sensational center is sitting out both of Philadelphia’s games this weekend as a precautionary measure with a knee injury, and the Sixers certainly missed him in Saturday’s 106-104 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Philadelphia is getting healthier by the game, and comes into this one as a three-point favourite as it looks to avoid losing for the fifth time in the past seven games. Sports Interaction bettors are believers, with more than three-quarters of respondents taking the visitors. The Thunder have long been a problem for the 76ers, having won 18 of the previous 20 head-to-head meetings – including 10 of the previous 11 at Chesapeake Energy Center.

The total for Sunday’s showdown is set at 219.5, with 67 percent of Sports Interaction bettors siding with the Over. And both teams are riding trends that support the groundswell of O219.5 support, with Philadelphia having gone 5-2 O/U in its previous seven games and Oklahoma City converting the Over in four of its last six. And the 76ers are an emphatic 8-2 to the Over in their past 10 games against Western Conference opponents.

Philadelphia 76ers

On one hand, having point guard Ben Simmons back in the lineup and performing most of the ball-handling duties gives the 76ers’ offence a nice boost. There is, however, the issue of turnovers – and Simmons has had a boatload of them, averaging nearly six per game over his last four outings. He racked up seven of the 76ers’ 23 turnovers in that loss to the Grizzlies, while generating only 11 Memphis turnovers themselves.

Oklahoma City Thunder

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has emerged as the go-to option for the Thunder in his third NBA season – and the talented Canadian shooting guard has proven equal to the task. He’s career highs in scoring (21.2) and assists (6.3) and is shooting nearly 51 percent from the field through his first 12 games. He’s an intriguing player prop play on both his scoring and assist totals: He averages 25.0 points and 8.2 assists in wins, and just 18.2 points and 4.2 assists in losses.
