A night after losing to the defending champion Raptors in Toronto, the Brooklyn Nets fly home to host Joel Embiid and the surging Sixers. Philadelphia is seeking its fifth straight win over Brooklyn and its sixth consecutive win overall.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Philly enters Sunday’s contest playing fantastic ball. The Sixers own wins over the Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors and Denver Nuggets during their five-game win streak. They’re 3-0-2 against the spread (ATS) over the same stretch and they come in off a 116-109 win against the Pelicans.

The 76ers are undefeated at home (14-0) but just 6-7 straight up away from the Wells Fargo Center. That said, their last away game was arguably their best performance of the season – a 115-109 win against Boston. The Celtics were undefeated at the TD Garden until the Sixers came to town.

This club was designed to be a terror at the defensive end of the floor and so far the stats back up the vision. Embiid and Co. are allowing just 103.4 points per 100 possessions – good for fourth best defensive net rating in the Association.

Brooklyn is riding a two-game losing streak after its setback in the Six. The Nets bettors do have hope in Sunday’s contest. The club is 7-5 against the spread at home and a perfect 4-0 ATS when catching points in its own gym.

This is the first meeting of the season for the two Atlantic Division foes. Philly swept the season series last year and is 5-1 SU and ATS in its last six games against Brooklyn.

Philadelphia 76ers

It’s been two games since Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley criticized Joel Embiid’s play this season. O’Neal and Barkley said during the Tuesday night Turner Broadcast that Embiid wasn’t playing up to the standard he set a season ago. They said the two-time All-Star needed to be more consistent if it wanted to be considered a great player.

Embiid, to his credit, said the criticism was fair. He also responded on the court with back-to-back dominant performances. Embiid put up 62 points, 24 rebounds and 11 assists in his next two games.

Brooklyn Nets

Few teams live and die off the 3-point shot more than Brooklyn. That’s why it’s no surprise the Nets are 0-2 in their last two games including an embarrassing home loss to Charlotte. The club has made just 22 of their last 84 attempts from beyond the arc.
