Blue Jays Can Extend Boston's Baseball Betting Misery
Frank Doyle’s MLB baseball betting previews of every weekend series.
American League
Toronto at Boston
Just when you think things can’t get any worse for Boston, Toronto arrives at Fenway skippered by Boston’s former pitching coach. Bettors will take the over, while patrons will bring coats tonight – it sure gets cold in Massachusetts when the ball game runs late.
Baltimore at Cleveland
The early season charges of both the Orioles and Indians are beginning to slow down a little, but the Orioles are returning to Earth more quickly.
Texas at New York Yankees
The Yankees at the top of the AL East, the Red Sox dead last – the Lady Who Loves Pinstripes must like that just fine. Texas is a good underdog MLB bet to win tonight, as Matt Harrison, 2-0, 1.29 ERA, pitches against the Yankees’ rookie, Ivan Nova, 1-0, 6.10 ERA, but CC will gain revenge on Sunday.
Minnesota at Tampa Bay
The injury to Joe Mauer won’t save the miserable, hapless Rays.
LA Angels at Chicago White Sox
Jered Weaver, 3-0, 0.87 ERA, pitches for the Angels tonight and Dan Haren, 3-0, 0.73 ERA, on Sunday. Go Bulls?
Seattle at Kansas City
Kansas City might be caught before October, but it won’t happen before Sunday.
Detroit at Oakland
The Tigers won last night. They’ll win some more before Sunday.
National League
Florida at Philadelphia
The Marlins should replace their position coaches with trauma counsellors. Philly is the best team in baseball and Florida isn’t. This won’t be pretty for the fish.
Milwaukee at Washington
Milwaukee needs to beat teams like the Nationals if it wants to keep pace with the Reds and Cards. The Brew Crew have won five straight but it won’t be that easy against Washington.
Pittsburgh at Cincinnati
Pittsburgh. Just good enough to break your heart.
New York Mets at Atlanta
This was once the rivalry that decided the National League East. Not any more.
San Diego at Houston
The Padres can win a series on the road this weekend. You won’t read that very often this year.
Chicago Cubs at Colorado
It’ll take a better team than the Cubs to conquer the Rockies.
San Francisco at Arizona
The World Champions haven’t started well, but the Giants look good for the road series in the desert.
St Louis at LA Dodgers
Albert Pujols is one of those guys about whom people say he’s playing badly when everyone would think he was playing great if he were subject to the same metric as a mortal Major Leaguer. Despite post-season appearances, the Dodgers haven’t been good for some years. This could be a rough weekend for home team bettors as the Cards return to form.
