The WSOP Main Event Final Table is a just over a week away and the ESPN crew is getting ready for the seemingly impossible task of three day turnaround on producing a show based on the final table coverage.
The November Nine, as the final tablers are known, will return to the Rio in Las Vegas on November 6 at 12pm PT where they will play until only two remain. Those final two will meet for the ultimate heads-up match in poker on November 8 at 8pm PT.
ESPN will be airing the complete WSOP final table coverage on November 9 from 7pm – 9pm PST, giving them very little time to put together the polished show that viewers have come to love.
To manage the incredible feat, ESPN employs a 71-person crew with 21 cameras.
“We are really going to give our viewers and unprecedented look at how the final table will play out,” stated ESPN producer, Kathy Cook.
For those of us die hard poker fans, ESPN3.com will be running a delayed live stream of the Final Table with veteran EPT commentator, James Hartigan assisted by a rotation of well-known poker pros.
The November Nine
A good cross-section of poker players make up the final table including big name poker pro, Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi. Mizrachi is coming off a big win as he took down the ultra-tough field in the WSOP $50K Player’s Championship. Winning the Main Event would make for an unheard of double victory and cement Mizrachi in the minds of poker fans as one of the greatest.
On the other end of the spectrum is unknown amateur player, Soi Nguyen. Nguyen represents all the casual poker players out there who dream of a chance of going to the WSOP and coming back a millionaire. Since only ninth place pays out less than one million dollars, it’s pretty likely that Nguyen will do just that.
