With the economy trying to scramble out of the deep dark hole, it’s good to know poker pro Beth Shak will have excess shoes, should the bottom drop out agin.
Known as “the lady with a thousand shoes,” Shak has a whopping collection of 1,200 pairs. We’re thinking shoes isn’t the best investment, but then again, that’s just us.
However, now Shak is facing the ultimate hardship: losing a portion of her footwear collection to her ex-hubby Daniel Shak, who filed a lawsuit asking the court for 35% of Beth’s shoes.
Daniel Shak, a 52-year-old hedge fund manager, claims Beth kept her shoe collection hidden from him during their divorce settlement three years ago.
However, Beth scoffs at this notion.
“He is saying he didn’t know the closet in our master bedroom existed,” Beth said. “How could I possibly hide these things? It would be ludicrous. It would be insane.
“I’m shaking my head over this whole thing,” she told the New York Post. “He is saying he didn’t know the closet in our master bedroom existed.”
But Daniel insists Beth hid them in a secret room of their Manhattan condo. His lawsuit reads, “In the summer of 2011, Daniel became aware that Beth owned and failed to disclose an extensive . . . collection of Christian Louboutin shoes . . . and other high-end designer shoes and bags,” his suit says. “Dan trusted his wife and was not inspecting his home to try to find inventory or ‘secret rooms.’ ”
If you think Daniel is being a bit petty with this suit, think again. A pair of Christian Louboutin shoes average a cool grand per pair.
Shak famously finished 2nd at the World Series of Poker and her over-the-top shoe collection has been featured in media outlets from, most notably, MTV’s Cribs.
If you think 1,200 pairs isn’t enough of an obsession, Shak reportedly even has a Christian Louboutin stiletto tattooed on a private area of her body.
