The attack on 2010 WSOP Main Event winner Jonathan Duhamel, wasn’t a random one, as police had initially suspected. Bianca Rojas-Latraverse, a former girlfriend of Duhamel, has been charged in the home invasion attack that left him in the hospital.

On December 21, 24-year-old Duhamel, was attacked in his condo in Boucherville, near Montreal when he opened the door to two men. Along with beating him, they threatened to cut off his fingers.

“Two men broke into my house and I was physically assaulted and robbed. After being threatened with death and having given them everything I had, I was bound and hit repeatedly in the face and body before my attackers left,” Duhamel had said.

They robbers took $40,000 Canadian and €74,000 along with his Rolex and WSOP bracelet that’s estimated to be worth around $40,000.

Now, the mastermind behind this attack has been identified as 20-year-old Bianca Rojas-Latraverse, who now faces five charges including conspiracy, armed robbery, breaking and entering, forced confinement and assault. Three men have also been arrested and face the same charges, John Steven Clark-Lemay, 22, and Anthony Bourque, 20 and Andre-Robert Perron. As an aside, Perron was wearing Duhamel’s Rolex at the time of his apprehension.

Reports say that Duhamel’s ex, Rojas-Latraverse, was a compulsive liar, with one report detailing how she tried to pass herself off as a medical student at the University of Montreal, and she went so far as to text Duhamel false news that she was pregnant after they broke up.Rojas-Latraverse’s cover was blown when a woman came forward with texts sent by the poker pro’s ex the day before the crime, which read, ”I’m scared. Tomorrow I have something big that could cost me my life.”

As of the writing of this post, the watch has been recovered, but diamonds and Duhamel’s WSOP bracelet are still missing. Duhamel won $8.9 million in the World Series of Poker in 2010.
