If you think poker players are good at reading one another than the Shulmans’ must have a very interesting marriage.
Allyn Shulman, wife of Card Player magazine owner Barry Shulman, won a World Series of Poker (WSOP) championship gold bracelet at WSOP Event #29, a no-limit Texas hold ‘em seniors tournament, which is open to those age 50 and over.
For the record Allyn’s husband Barry has a bracelet of his own, making them the third married couple to have each won a tournament at the WSOP and earned a bracelet.
Allyn beat out a large field of 4,127 players over four days on her way to capturing a gold bracelet, and took home the $603,713 first place prize. And along with the fact that Barry has a bracelet of his own, Barry’s own son Jeff also made it to a final table at this year’s WSOP. That fact wasn’t lost on WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart, who used the moment to take a shot at the Brunsons:
“With all due respect to the Brunsons. There is a new first family of poker in town, and they go by the name of Shulman.”
The final table payouts:
1: Allyn Jaffrey Shulman – $603,713
2: Dennis Phillips – $372,895
3: Bob Phelps – $270,727
4: Hoyt Corkins- $199,023
