A few years ago, Jennifer Lopez had fallen off America’s radar. However, after American Idol snapped her up and resuscitated her – bringing her all the way to number 1 on the Forbes 100 in just 2 years. Yes, Lopez has become not only relevant again, but has since dumped her husband and is dating a young, hot dancer.
However, Lopez isn’t sure she’s going to stick with Idol for the long haul. Although the show has made it clear they want her for a third season, Lopez went on the Ellen Degeneres Show to announce that she’s not sure if she’ll stay on board. Now, there is speculation that Lopez has already made the decision to end it with Idol. According to Marc Malkin of E!: “While J.Lo has publicly said she has yet to make a decision about her future on Idol, sources exclusively tell me that she she’s planning on calling it quits. ‘She’s just too busy,’ one source said. I’m told Lopez will be on the road, at the very least, through the end of the year. The next round of Idol auditions will begin while she’s overseas.”
Idol head honcho Nigel Lythgoe says, “I know how much she loves doing the show and how much she cares for the kids.” That said, Nigel adds, “It’s a business. She has to weigh everything. I know she’s gotten lots of offers to do movies and other things.”
There is speculation though – that this uncertainty about her future is feigned… a business move on Lopez’s part to score a heftier salary.
