After beating breast cancer, Giuliana Rancic announced onToday that is having a baby via gestational carrier who is about 20 weeks along. Anybody who watches Giuliana and Bill’s reality show know that they’ve been open about their struggles with infertility and Giuliana and Bill made the embryo before she was diagnosed with cancer. They also released this statement to E!:
“We are so thrilled that our prayers have been answered. We are absolutely ecstatic to be sharing this with everyone who has been following our journey.”
Rancic, an E! news correspondent who recenlty made the decision to undergo a double mastectomy, after the breast cancer treatment she had been undergoing was ineffective.
“Instead of radiation, I’m going to go ahead and move forward,“ Rancic had told Ann Curry about the procedure back in October of 2011.
Now, cancer free, the couple appeared again on the Today show – this time to share the happy news that after a long battle – they are finally pregnant. Giuliana, 37, revealed they know they sex of the child, but added, “We’re seeing how long we can keep it a secret, so we haven’t told anyone yet.”
“It was pretty emotional because this was our last stop,” Bill, 40, said.
Because the medication Giuliana was taking to fight her breast cancer, she would have to wait years before getting pregnant so the odds of them having a successful pregnancy were small. Bill and Giuliana Rancic’s struggles with fertility have been well documented on their reality show, Giuliana & Bill. However, via surrogate, they were able to realize their shared dream of becoming parents.
“We had those two embryos that we had banked prior to learning about the breast cancer, and with the medicine [Giuliana] was on, this was our last effort. The prayers were answered.”
