If you remember him as the charming chimney sweep in Mary Poppins, as well as starring in his own show – then you’ll be shocked to find out that not only is Dick Van Dyke still alive, but that he’s just gotten married.
The 86-year-old star of The Dick Van Dyke Show and Diagnosis: Murder, tied the knot to his 40-year-old makeup artist Arlene Silver on February 29.
Arlene told RumorFix, “He’s the happiest person I ever met. He’s got an infectious spirit.”
Van Dyke admitted, “Kinda on the spur of the moment, we just decided Leap Day would be the best time to do it.”
Dick and Arlene met six years ago at the SAG Awards. Van Dyke recalls, ”I was in the green room and she passed through and I was bowled over by her beauty. The last couple of years, we kind of fell in love. She keeps up with me.”
This is Van Dyke’s second marriage. He had four children with ex-wife Margie Willett and lived with longtime partner Michelle Triola for 30 years before her death in 2009.
