Although not all of his movies have been stellar, Robert De Niro has had enough successes in the film industry to be regarded as Hollywood royalty. De Niro once said the reason why he has starred in not-so-great flicks (Analyze That, Meet the Fockers, etc.) is because he never says “no” to a big payday.
Now it looks like this work ethic is bringing him to a casino in South Korea. The Paradise Walker-Hill Casino in Seoul, South Korea, has announced that it has hired actor Robert De Niro to serve as their spokesman.
The strange thing about this casino is that you won’t find a single South Korean in it. Open to foreigners only, the casino is located in the Sheraton Walker-Hill Hotel, a luxury hotel in Seoul frequented by tourists and business people in town from abroad. When driving from the Seoul airport, travelers will see large ads with De Niro’s face advertising the casino.
There are also plans in the works for De Niro to star in television commercials, already filmed in New York, plugging the casino.
This isn’t De Niro’s only ties to casinos. Back on his home turf, De Niro is a shareholder in the Las Vegas Nobu Hotel, set to open this fall. The Nobu brand currently operates 24 restaurants around the world, but the venture with Caesars Palace will be its first hotel.
