The gambling world is once again becoming fodder for a Hollywood movie, with actor Jake Gyllenhaal readying to film, Mississippi Grind.
The Hollywood Reporter provided a description of the upcoming film:
The story centers on a down-on-his-luck gambler facing crushing debt who teams up with a younger gambling addict (Gyllenhaal) in an attempt to change his luck. The two set off on a road trip through the South with visions of winning back what has been lost. The lead character would be a plum role for Hollywood’s fortysomething set.
Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden are slated to direct the film, both of whom directed Ryan Gosling in Half Nelson.
Meanwhile, Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake are filming another gambling-based flick, Runner Runner. The movie is apparently a quest for an online poker player to recoup the money he was cheated out of – which leads him to Costa Rica – where the poker site is located.
